dyslexia ASSESSMENT

All our assessments are in line with NICE guidelines, and they are conducted by a multi-disciplinary team.

It can be overwhelming finding a service you can trust and understanding the differences between the various professionals offering similar things.

We invite individuals or parents to book in half an hour to talk about the assessment process and explain why they are looking for help. Or, if you prefer, you are welcome to book an appointment straightaway.

This time is free of charge and a useful space for us to get to know each other a little.

FREE CONSULT

The first step is to start building up a picture of the person we are assessing. We do this by sending out screening measures to gather as many different perspectives as we can. We will send parents and school a questionnaire, which includes a Visual Difficulties Screener.

SCREENING

Assessment

We are able to offer face to face assessments, or you can opt for the process to be done online. It generally takes 2-3 hours, depending on age of child etc.

The assessment itself explores:

  • Underlying general ability - visual and verbal.

  • Cognitive profile - visual and verbal processing speed, working memory, phonological awareness and memory.

  • Impact of any cognitive difficulties on classroom-based / academic skills - reading, writing, spelling - sometimes maths.

debrief & follow up report

We provide a diagnostic written report to parents, which is then followed up with either a zoom or phone call to discuss the findings.

Some parents require us to be part of a conversation with school SENDCo or other professionals, which we are happy to do.
